The Phoenix, 2005
Copper engravings and haiku by Brian Hanscomb
This book was originally announced as ‘Spirit of Landscape – a collection of images and words’ inspired by a love of the West Country Landscape. Then, on 22 May 2002, Hanscomb’s studio with its contents, including the 1890 hand-made paper on which ‘Spirit of Lanscape’ was to have been printed, was reduced to ashes by a fire started by a spark from a woodburning stove. The Phoenix grew from the ashes. (author’s introduction).
